Friends of China Society was formed in the year 1972 at the behest of madam Indira Gandhi(Prime minister of India) after various deliberations and discussions held with think tanks, Professors, Politicians of different political party and so on. Dr. Shyam Sundar Mohapatra Member of Parliament became the first secretary general of the organization.

Since than the organization has been organizing seminars, Symposiums , Pictorial exhibition of China and India, Cultural programs and meetings through out India to apprise the people regarding the development for peace and solidarity between the two great nation of China and India.

The friends of China society India has strived hard to foster warm  relation between the two countries, The member of the society are committed for better relations and act as cultural ambassadors to propagate Peace, stability, solidarity and Brotherhood between India and China, It may be mentioned here that friends of China society believes the ancient friendship and legacy left behind by Fahin and hiuensang (Chinese travelers) many century ago. It believes in the medical mission sent by Indian government to China during the long march under the patronage of doctor kotnis. The panchesheel propounded by Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and premier Zhou Enlai is still the guiding factor. FOCS still believes in the anti imperialist area China and India can play a vital role with the break up of the Soviet Union China and India are the only powers to oppose a uni polar world.

Over the years many renowned people have become initiators and patrons and have addressed the meetings, seminars  and conferences organized by Friends of China society. To name a few are Madam Indira Gandhi(Prime minister of india), Giani Zail Singh (President of India), R Venkataraman (President of India), Dr. S.S Mohapatra (Member of Parliament and Secretary general), K.R Narayanan (President of India), I.K Gujral (Prime minister of India), Deve Gowda (Prime minister of India), Bhishma narayan Singh (governor of Tamilnadu),  B Satyanarayan Reddy (Governor of Odisha) , Nargis Dutt (M.P and Cine star) , saifuddin soz (Union minister and MP of India), S.M Krishna (Foreign Minister of India), P.C Alexgender (governor of Maharashtra), B.S Ramoowala (Member of Parliament), Syed Mir Kasim (Chief minister of Kashmir), Sarat kar (Speaker of Odisha), Prasanna Patsahani (Member of Parliament), Prasanna acharya (Member of Parliment) and so on….

Friends of China Society believes in person to person diplomacy and strongly believes that India and China are two true historical friends.

Friends of China Society India has five branches namely in the Province of Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra and Odisha till date.

The Friends of China society India  works in tandem with the Chinese embassy, the cultural office and the Chinese people association for friendship with foreign countries (CPAFFC), Beijing, China.
